Manchester City winger Brandon Barker, who is playing on loan at Scottish side Hibernian F.C, has expressed the desire to continue playing for the Scottish side. Barker is an academy product and he has been with the Citizens since the age of eight and has graduated to the top level. However, in the current setup, one feels that it will be hard for the English winger to come anywhere close to the first team.
Barker was on loan last season as well and was plying his trade for the Dutch second tier team, NAC Breda. His time with the Dutch side was plagued by injuries as he was out for seven months after a torn hamstring. But this time around with the Scottish outfit, he has had more of an impact and has played 24 games for them this season.
Regarding his stint in Scotland, he said,-”My first thought is just to finish off the season here then enjoy the summer, but I can only say thank you to Hibs, it’s been unbelievable.I had a really difficult season last year and I wasn’t really happy. This season, I’ve been happy again. My injury layoff was a set-back but I’ve loved it up here, it’s been incredible.”
He has expressed his desire to come back to City but he knows that getting to play regularly for them will be a herculean task. Regarding that, he said-“City are happy with how things are going and we’ll have to wait until the summer to see what’s going to happen. As a City player, I respect what they want to do with me. I’d love to come back, this is a great club with a great team and what we have done this year has been phenomenal and now we have three more games to wrap it up.”
Barker has just made a comeback from injury as he was out for three months and he marked his comeback with a goal against Kilmarnock. The Englishman usually plays as a left winger and is known for his dribbling skills and trickery as he can go past players with ease. He can even play more centrally as well.

City should certainly allow him to extend his loan spell further with the Scottish side as he is currently happy with them. One doesn’t see him getting anywhere near the star-studded lineup, which City currently have as the likes of Leroy Sane, Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva and David Silva are having a terrific season under Guardiola. So for his overall development, Barker should carry on playing with Hibernian FC.
