Manchester City are interested in securing the services of Feyenoord youngster Melayro Bogarde this summer. According to recent reports, the Citizens are planning to make a move for the highly-rated Dutch prospect when the transfer window opens in the summer. It is believed that the Dutch starlet, who is the nephew of former Chelsea defender Winston, will turn 16 and be eligible to sign a professional deal before the end of this month.
Some sources are now claiming that City are set to battle with Manchester United and Arsenal in pursuit of the Feyenoord academy graduate’s signature in the upcoming summer transfer period. The Blues of Manchester are looking to build towards a bigger and brighter future at the Etihad Stadium. However, they are not the only ones chasing after the Dutch teenager’s services and could face stiff competition from fellow Premier League rivals which also includes Liverpool and Chelsea.
The 15-year-old centre-back is one of the most promising young talents in European football and would be a major coup for City if they can pull off such a deal. He has graduated from Feyenoord’s academy and currently plays for the club’s under-17 team. Bogarde has also represented his nation, the Netherlands at the Under 15 and Under 16 levels. Recent reports have also suggested that the Manchester outfit has invited the Dutch starlet to visit the club’s City Football Academy facility and it is now up to the youngster to decide which club he wants to opt for.
Guardiola’s side are at the top of the league table with a tally of 97 points in 37 matches in the league. They have already won the English top-flight title and the Carabao Cup but has failed to qualify for the latter stages of the UEFA Champions League this season.
The potential acquisition of Bogarde can definitely bolster Guardiola’s defensive options in the future but for now, the young defender should look to develop his game so that he can make a step up to the first-team level in the coming years. Bogarde has a massive potential and at the mere of 15, he still has a lot of time to develop and fulfil his potential.
