Leicester City are in the running to sign Manchester City’s attacking midfielder Patrick Roberts, who is enjoying a good spell with the Scottish giants Celtic currently. His loan is set to end soon after the Scottish cup final where Brendan Rodgers’ side will take on Motherwell.
The midfielder was on a loan spell with the Hoops last year as well and he was magnificent for them as he managed 11 goals and 19 assists in 47 appearances. On the back of such performances, his loan spell was extended for another year. But this time around he has been plagued by injuries and his season hasn’t taken off as one expected. He has pulled off 1 goal and 5 assists in 18 appearances this term.
Even though he has had an offseason, there seems to be no dying interest in him as the Premier League clubs are vying for his signature. Along with Leicester, West Ham United are also keeping tabs on the midfielder who can also play the role of no.10. A permanent move to Celtic cannot be counted out but things can be tough for Rodgers if there is an offer from the aforesaid Premier League clubs.
Leicester City have been inconsistent in the last few years since their unlikely triumph in the 2015-16 campaign. They finished ninth this term while one expected them to challenge for a European spot. Their current campaign was also plagued with inconsistency as they were not able to muster up any sort of momentum throughout the season.
The Foxes could be in need of some reinforcements if Claude Puel wants to do better next term. They can end up losing their influential winger Riyad Mahrez in the summer as the speculations are currently hot that he is set to leave the King Power Stadium. It will be a huge loss for the Foxes but they will soon have to replace him and Patrick Roberts could just be the right man.

Leicester will certainly improve if they get the services of Roberts as apart from being a winger, he can play in various positions upfront. He is touted to have a big future and has played crucial roles at the youth level for his country England. One can understand his potential from the fact that at just 17 years of age when he was eligible to play in the u-17, he was picked up for the u-19 team. He might not set the Premier League on fire straight away as he is still young and will take time to adjust to the English top flight but he has all the potential and ability to become a top player and Leicester could capitalise on this.
