Liverpool are inching closer towards sealing a move for Chelsea‘s Isaac Christie-Davies this summer. According to recent reports, the Reds are set to secure the services of the English midfielder when the transfer window opens in the summer. The 20-year-old was released by the West London side and is now a free agent with Liverpool in pole position to recruit him.
The youngster was not offered a new contract at Stamford Bridge with his current terms coming to an end in the summer. A whole host of clubs were looking to sign him but the Reds have stolen a march and are currently leading the chase for Christie-Davies’ signature. The Merseyside club took Christie-Davies on trial back in March and it now appears that he has done enough to earn a move to Anfield.
The English starlet signed for Chelsea’s academy from Brighton & Hove Albion and has progressed from the West London club’s youth ranks to the under-23s, managing to win the FA Youth Cup in 2015 and 2016 and the UEFA Youth League in 2016. Christie-Davies is expected to join up with Liverpool’s under-23s in the next campaign, following ex-Chelsea teammate Dominic Solanke in departing Chelsea in favour of a move to Merseyside.
The Reds of Merseyside have managed to secure UEFA Champions League football for the next campaign after earning an emphatic victory in their last league outing. Jurgen Klopp’s side are currently preparing for the Champions League final with a mouth-watering encounter versus Real Madrid coming up later this month.
The potential acquisition of Christie-Davies will undoubtedly bolster Klopp’s attacking options in the future but for now, the youngster will need to develop with the Liverpool Under-23’s with the hope of breaking into the Reds’ senior team in the not too distant future. The Merseysiders have a whole host of attacking players such as Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Adam Lallana, Dominic Solanke, Danny Ings and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain competing for a place in Klopp’s starting eleven. The addition of Christie-Davies will definitely improve their Under-23 squad significantly and add more competition for places within the Reds team.
