Liverpool are interested in securing the services of Benfica midfielder Anderson Talisca this summer. According to recent reports, the Reds are being tipped to make a move for the Brazilian star during this upcoming summer transfer period. Besiktas manager Senol Gunes has disclosed that his team won’t be signing the Brazilian and a potential deal is already in place with the Merseyside club.
Talisca has spent the past two seasons at the Turkish club, while on loan from Benfica. He has put in a number of eye-catching displays under Gunes during the course of the season which has not gone unnoticed. Some sources are now claiming that both Premier League sides Wolverhampton Wanderers and Liverpool and Serie A giants AS Roma are planning to make a move for the attacking talent while Besiktas also has an option to seal a permanent deal for the player.
It is believed that the Reds are now in pole position to land Talisca in the summer. In a recent interview, Gunes was quoted to have said, “Talisca was already gone at the winter break,”
“I’m sorry that he won’t be with us any longer. I wish he could stay for his sake and ours. He already had a deal in place.”
The Besiktas boss then went on to add, “He might be rivals with Cenk Tosun,”
The Merseysiders are currently preparing for the UEFA Champions League final where they will take on Real Madrid at Kiev next weekend. Jurgen Klopp’s team are being touted by many to be one of the closest challengers to Manchester City in the league next season. A player of Talisca’s calibre will definitely bolster their squad and help them close the gap to the Citizens going into the new campaign.
The Reds have an array of attacking talents such as Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, Adam Lallana, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Georginio Wijnaldum vying for a place in Klopp’s first-team, with the impending arrival of Naby Keita looming on the horizon. The potential acquisition of Talisca will undoubtedly strengthen their squad significantly and add more competition for places within their team.
At 24, Talisca still has his peak years ahead of him which the Reds could look to capitalise on, in the near future. The Brazilian is also quite versatile and can play in a number of different positions in midfield. Talisca primarily operates in the number 10 position but can also be deployed as a secondary striker or in central midfield which makes him a perfect fit for Klopp’s Reds. He had made 47 appearances for Besiktas last season, scoring 20 goals while grabbing 8 assists in all competitions.
Only time will tell what lies ahead in the future of the Brazilian attacker and whether he ends up sealing a switch to Merseyside in search of more challenging adventures.
