Hibernian FC midfielder John McGinn is attracting interest from quite a few clubs as the transfer window has opened and the likes of Leeds United and Rangers FC are considered as serious contenders to bring him at their club. However, according to current reports, the Peacocks are not too keen on having him and that could mean Rangers are in with a good shout for his signature.
Rangers have taken a big punt by appointing Steven Gerrard for the top job and he is in the market looking for players who can improve his squad significantly. There have been numerous reports of him making a move for the Scottish midfielder who has impressed everyone with his performances in the middle of the park.
With a trusted source putting Leeds United out of the race, now could be the right time for Rangers to make a move. However, he isn’t going to come in cheap as the Cabbage will demand something in the region of £6m and that could be a huge stumbling block for Gerrard and company. Recently Lennon’s assistant Garry Parker talked about his player’s transfer speculations and said,” Heard they’re looking to spend £6m – so are they going to put all their money into buying one player? That’s £6m for us to go and choose some players, then.”
McGinn has been a regular part for his team in midfield this season and racked up 43 appearances in all competitions. He managed six goals and eight assists but more than that, he has brought stability to Neil Lennon’s side in midfield as they finished an impressive fourth this term and were only 3 points off Rangers, who have seen their stocks go down in the last few years.
It will certainly be a big transfer move for the Scottish international if the TeddyBears manage to lure him to Ibrox. He is still 23 and has shown huge potential. His best is yet to come and Rangers can reap benefits of it if they manage to get him in this summer transfer window. However, the quoted amount is going to be a huge stumbling block and Rangers can only have him if they let some of the players leave the club from their current roster.

If Gerrard can get him to sign for the Teddy Bears this summer, McGinn will certainly walk into the Gers first eleven and can form a solid midfield partnership with the likes of Ryan Jack, Jason Holt and Josh Windass.
