Kyle Bartley, the Swansea City defender is consistently being linked with Leeds United for the last few transfer windows. The speculations have again intensified as the season draws to an end. Bartley has managed just 12 appearances for the Swans this season and could be on his way out to play regular football.
However, even though he has been used sporadically, he signed a contract with Swansea last year only which can keep him at the Liberty stadium until 2021 as he impressed his former boss with his loan spell at the Elland Road. Under new manager Carlos Carvalhal he has failed to break into the first team and could be sold. However, Swansea will certainly not make any dealings before they are sure of their status in the Premier League.
Swansea are currently one point above the relegation zone and everything can hinge on their game against fellow relegation-threatened rivals Southampton. In a situation where they go down to the second division, Carvalhal can lose out on a host of his first-team players as they will look to continue playing for a side in the Premier League. Then someone like Kyle Bartley will become an important player for them as he has good experience of playing in the Championship.
One issue the Whites are facing in bringing in Bartley is regarding his salary. He earns in excess of £15,000-a-week, which is the highest salary cap a player can get at Leeds. However, they are keen on having the former loanee and will make an exception for him.
Leeds United will be keen on having him as they have dismal in the Championship this season and have particularly struggled at the back. They currently sit on the 14th spot and will be looking to bolster their squad to have any chances of qualifying for the playoffs next season.
Bartley impressed everyone when he was with the Peacocks and on the last game of his loan spell he was quoted as saying-”I’ve said many times this season that I’ve loved every minute here, it’s been a fantastic club for me. The fans have been great, the staff have been great and the players are fantastic.”

Bartley is known as a natural leader at the back and even though he isn’t regular for the Swans he has captained them this season. Leeds can certainly do with a player like him and it seems that they are willing to make him the highest earner at the club to lure him at Elland Road.
