Leeds United are on the lookout for summer additions and Union Berlin left-back, Kristian Pedersen has been closely linked with the Championship side. The 23-year-old has appeared in 32 games for the Bundesliga 2 outfit, scoring once and furthering 3 assists.
The Whites need a defensive head to fill up the gaps for the upcoming season. After all, the present campaign has been nothing but worth forgetting about. Nobody in their right mind would have predicted for United to finish 13th in the league table after watching them in the first half of the campaign.
Leeds started the season with great promise under their former boss, Thomas Christiansen and were even in one of the playoff spots. However, once they hit the downshift, they just kept sliding down with no sign of recovery. Paul Heckingbottom’s appointment could not get the side to click either and the fans were left devastated to see their team lose day-in-day-out.
The left-back position has been highly problematic ever since Charlie Taylor quit the side for his high minded Premier League aspirations with Burnley. Leeds managed to sign Laurens De Bock from Belgian side, Club Brugge KV in the winter transfer window but sadly the 25-year-old has proven to be inconsistent.
He was thrown into the line of fire right upon his arrival and unfortunately could not really find his feet immediately. It is understandable that he will take a certain adjustment period but the club could do better by restrengthening the squad with another player.
Pedersen certainly has earned the call-up after his impressive displays for Berlin in the German second division. The 5-time Denmark U21 international has 63 games for Union Berlin and 63 more for HB Kobe (a Danish club based near Copenhagen).
He was primarily spotted at Ringsted IF and was later handed over the professional contract at the age of 20. He took no time to shine for the Danish outfit and quickly made his presence known in the league.
Berlin scouted him early and picked him up for £225,000 in the summer of 2016. Pedersen’s current deal is set to expire after another season which is a positive sign for Leeds.

Berlin are also not a playoff team any longer after starting the season much like Leeds in such strong fashion. While they will be entitled to a transfer fee from the Peacocks, Heckingbottom and Andrea Radrizzani will have the opportunity of driving the price down significantly for the in-demand left back, which might be favourable for the Peacocks to make a move for him in the near future.
