Leeds United are being linked with a move for Jake Garrett, a talented 15-year-old centre back from Blackburn Rovers. The youngster at 15 has already played for his club in the U18 Premier League games and is touted to have a big future. Along with the Peacocks, other clubs from Championship and from the Premier League are monitoring the youngster at Ewood Park.
Leeds United have had a dismal season as they finished 13th and were 15 points of the playoff spot. They will be looking for reinforcement in the summer to mount a better challenge next term in the Championship. The Whites season started off well as they were unbeaten in their first seven games. They were in with a shout for a playoff spot but their season was soon derailed and they sacked their manager Thomas Christiansen.
Since Paul Heckingbottom took over, the results didn’t change much but one shouldn’t expect miracles in such a short while.
The signing of Garrett is certainly going to be done by keeping the future in mind. The youngster has shown immense potential and he seems to have all facets to his game which is required by a modern day centre back. He is physically strong and is a good ball playing defender and that is the reason why heavyweights like Manchester United are also vying for him.
He has also represented England at the u15 level and held his own alongside other Premier league youngsters. It remains to be seen whether Blackburn Rovers will be able to hold on their prized asset when other clubs from higher divisions are looking to sign him.
We have seen a lot of young players from Leeds United’s youth team go on to represent their senior team. One such name is Tom Pearce who was put into the mix of the senior team in the latter half of the just-concluded season. The youngster has impressed in such a short while and is expected to play a much important role next season.
