Hull City‘s main man in the middle of the pitch over the years, David Meyler, is set to leave the club in the summer. The midfielder has been part of the Tigers since 2013 and has seen Hull City getting promoted twice in that period. However, this season their performance has been dismal, to say the least, which might have caused the Irish ace to take the tough decision.
Meyler was quite injury prone when he was with Sunderland and as a result, he was sent on loan to the Tigers in 2012. At KCOM stadium, he was able to revive his career and he will be grateful to the Hull City manager and board who have trusted him over the years. This year he has played 26 games in all competitions and has been on the scoresheet 5 times.
He has certainly made his name with Hull City and it is expected that there will be quite a few clubs who will be vying for his signature, now that he has officially announced his decision to part ways with the club. However, he will be a big miss for the Tigers and we look at three players who can replace him.
Dan Gosling
Going for the Bournemouth midfielder will probably be an ambitious attempt for the Tigers as he has appeared regularly for the Cherries this season. However, he will be an ideal like-for-like replacement for Meyler as he has all the characteristics which their soon-to-be-former player possesses.
It might also be a good decision for Hull City, as they will need to be more ambitious in the transfer market if they are going to come anywhere close to top-flight qualifications.
Jakob Johansson
The experienced Swedish midfielder could be another option which can be considered. He currently plays for AEK Athens. The Swedish international has played an instrumental part in making his country qualify for the 2018 World Cup.
He missed a chunk of the action as he suffered an ACL injury which kept him out for close to 6 months. However, now he has fully recovered and would be seen in the middle of the park for the Swedish national team in the World Cup.

Bersant Celina
Hull can snap up this talented Manchester City loanee who is currently playing for Ipswich Town. He has been a regular feature for them this season and usually plays in the attacking midfielder role. He has managed eight goals and one assist this season which is a decent haul for a midfielder. He can come in as an ideal replacement for Meyler if the Tigers decide to go for him.
