Everton are hoping to secure the services of AFC Ajax attacking talent Hakim Ziyech this summer. According to recent reports, the Toffees are lining up a move for the Moroccan international during this summer transfer window as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.
The Dutch Eredivisie ace is keen on making a switch away from the Amsterdam Arena this summer in search of some new challenges. Some sources are now claiming that Sam Allardyce’s team are interested in bringing him to Goodison Park in this off-season which will undoubtedly bolster their midfield options for the upcoming campaign.
Ziyech has put in a number of outstanding displays for AFC Ajax during the course of this past season which has not gone unnoticed. However, the Merseyside outfit are not the only ones looking to sign him and will face strong competition from Liverpool and AS Roma in pursuit of the Morrocan midfield enforcer’s signature. The 25-year-old has made 39 appearances for the Dutch giants this term, scoring 9 goals while providing 18 assists in all competitions.
In a recent interview, Ziyech shed some light on his future and was quoted to have said, “From the January transfer window, I have been clear that it was my intention to leave Ajax in the summer,”
“I am ready to look further. But the situation has to be right at the next club. If that is not the case, I will stay.”
The Toffees have finished their league campaign in the 8th spot with a total tally of 49 points in 38 league matches this term. Allardyce is in need of a few fresh faces in this upcoming transfer period so that he can push his side to secure a European place next season.
The potential acquisition of Ziyech will undoubtedly bolster Allardyce’s midfield options ahead of the new season. Everton have an array of attacking midfielders such as Wayne Rooney, Davy Klaassen, Tom Davies, Gylfi Sigurðsson and Nikola Vlašić competing for a place in their first-team. The addition of Ziyech will definitely improve their squad significantly and add more competition for places within Allardyce’s team.

At 25, Ziyech still has his peak years ahead of him which the Blues of Merseyside could look to utilise in the coming years. The Morrocan international is also quite versatile and can play in a number of different positions across the midfield. Ziyech primarily plays as an attacking midfielder in the number 10 role but can also be deployed as a holding midfielder or on the left flank which makes him a perfect fit for Allardyce’ Blues. Only time will tell what lies ahead in the future of Ziyech and whether he ends up plying his trade at Goodison Park next season.
