Crystal Palace are looking to secure the services of West Bromwich Albion centre-forward Jay Rodriguez this summer. According to recent reports, the Eagles are prepared to make a move for the Baggies striker when the transfer window opens in the summer.
It is believed that Palace boss Roy Hodgson is ready to line up an offer for the English talent by raiding his former club at the end of the season. Some sources are now claiming that the Eagles would need to cough up a fee in the region of £30m to sign both Craig Dawson and Jay Rodriguez from West Brom in the off-season.
The English forward does not have a cut-price relegation get-out clause in his current contract with the Baggies which might make it difficult for Palace to sign him. Hodgson is now willing to provide Rodriquez with an escape route from playing football in the Championship next season. The 28-year-old has struggled for the Baggies during the course of this season but has still managed to put up a number of eye-catching displays for them. He has scored 11 goals grabbed two assists in 40 matches for the West Midlands outfit this season.
The Eagles have enjoyed a rich vein of form in recent weeks and have managed to get themselves out of relegation trouble going into the final few games of the campaign. Palace have a tally of 38 points after Gameweek 36 and find themselves in the 11th spot in the league table. Hodgson will be aware that he needs to sign some quality players in the summer to avoid getting his team involved in a relegation dogfight next season.
The potential acquisition of Rodriguez will undoubtedly bolster Hodgson’s attacking options at the club. Palace have the likes of Christian Benteke, Wilfried Zaha, Alexander Sørloth and Connor Wickham vying for a place in Hodgson’s starting eleven. The addition of Rodriguez will definitely improve their squad significantly and add more competition for places in the Eagles team.

The English forward signed for West Brom from Southampton last summer but has failed to make his mark at the Hawthorns in this campaign. However, Rodriguez has still managed to score 11 goals for a struggling West Brom side which indicates that he might flourish with some quality players around him in the coming years. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Rodriguez and whether he ends up making a switch to Selhurst Park this summer.
