According to reports, Crystal Palace are looking to sign French midfielder Yann M’vila who currently plays for Saint Etienne. M’vila has previously been linked to other Premier League clubs but those moves didn’t materialise. However, things seem to be in an advanced situation as according to reports in France, both teams are already in contact regarding the sale of the player.
Crystal Palace has done well in the latter half of the season as they have pretty much secured their stay in the Premier League. Their season started poorly as they lost first seven games in a row and their highly rated former Ajax manager, Frank de Boer was sacked and they appointed Roy Hodgson. Many of the Eagles faithful were sceptical regarding his appointment but the former England manager has done well and they are just two points away from the magical 40 point mark.
M’vila moved to the French side in the 2018 January transfer window from the Russian side Rubin Kazan. Since then he has been regular for the French outfit as he has played 14 games in all competitions for them. His contract runs out in the next summer , however, Crystal Palace are already looking to bring him to the Selhurst Park.
M’vila is a defensive midfielder and will bring much more solidity to the Crystal Palace midfield. He is known for his terrific work rate and is robust in his challenge. His distribution skills are also up to the mark. He has all the talents to become a top player but he is often criticised for his attitude. He was once banned from representing France for 2 years as he was on an unauthorised night out while representing his national team.
The Frenchman also has the experience of playing in the English top flight as he played for Sunderland in the 2015-16 season when he joined them on loan. He was one of their best players for them in that term as they somehow survived the relegation battle in that season. He has also represented the French National team 22 times, however, he has found it tough to get to the National team in the last few years as France have a similar and better option in Ngolo Kante.

A player like M’vila will be a great addition to Palace’s team, however, they will need a manager with good man management skills to handle the midfielder. He can be disruptive for his team and hence his signing can backfire. Nevertheless, Palace should still make a move for him as he will enhance their current squad.
