Crystal Palace are monitoring the situation of Swansea City shot-stopper Lukasz Fabianski ahead of a potential move in the summer. According to recent reports, the Eagles are preparing a move for the Polish keeper when the transfer window opens in the summer. Fabianski suffered the agony of being relegated to the Championship with the Swans and could now be on the lookout for a move in this upcoming transfer period.
The 33-year-old goalie was the Welsh club’s best player by a country mile during the course of this campaign after he put in some match-winning performances for Carlos Carvalhal’s side this year. However, his contributions were not enough to save his team from relegation which has thrown his future with the Swans in doubt. Some sources are now claiming that a whole host of English clubs are looking to snap him up this summer which includes Roy Hodgson’s team.
The Welsh club are now resigned to lose Fabianski which will be a big boost for Palace’s chances of landing the player. Only time will tell whether they can successfully pull off such a deal this summer.
The Eagles have enjoyed a rich vein of form in recent weeks and have managed to end their league campaign on a high. Palace finished with a total tally of 44 points after playing 38 league matches. Hodgson will be aware that he needs to recruit some top quality players in the summer to avoid getting his side involved in a relegation dogfight again next term.
The potential acquisition of Fabianski will undoubtedly bolster Hodgson’s goalkeeping options at the club. Palace have the likes of Diego Cavalieri, Dion-Curtis Henry, Julián Speroni and Wayne Hennessey competing for a place in Hodgson’s first-team. The addition of Fabianski will definitely improve their squad significantly and add more competition for places in the Eagles team.
The Polish goalkeeper signed for Swansea City from Arsenal in the summer of 2014. Fabianski made 38 appearances for the Swans last season, shipping in 56 goals while keeping 9 clean sheets in all competitions.
