Chelsea could let their Brazilian midfielder Kenedy depart the club in the summer. According to recent reports, the Blues are considering parting ways with their prized asset when the transfer window opens in the summer. It is believed that the West London club values him in the region of £20m and will consider shipping him out if the right offer comes in for the player.
Kenedy is currently out on loan at Newcastle United where he has put in some dazzling displays and has become one of the most integral members of Rafael Benitez’s squad. The Brazilian talent has featured in 17 matches for both Chelsea and Newcastle United this season, scoring 3 goals and grabbing 5 assists in all competitions. He is a product of the Fluminense academy and impressed for the Brazilian side before his big move to England in the summer of 2015.
However, Kenedy has failed to break into the Blues first-team and has already had loan spells at Watford and Newcastle United respectively. The 22-year-old is quite versatile and can operate anywhere on the left flank, which makes him a perfect fit for any of his potential suitors.
The Blues of London have a tally of 66 points after Gameweek 36 and currently find themselves in the 5th position in the league table. Antonio Conte’s men still have a slim chance of finishing in the top 4 but their hopes mostly hinge on other results going their way. Chelsea could definitely benefit from bringing in a few quality players during the summer transfer period.
However, retaining some of their top talents could be integral if they are to build for the future and challenge for major trophies. They can also consider selling Kenedy and use the money generated from his sale to strengthen other areas of their squad. Chelsea already has the likes of Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri vying for a place in Antonio Conte’s first-team. Hence, they can afford to let Kenedy depart this summer as the Brazilian will definitely benefit from playing regular first-team football elsewhere.

Another option could be to loan him again if the Blues think that he has the potential to cut the mustard at Stamford Bridge in a few years time. For now, it remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Kenedy and whether Chelsea ends up selling him in the near future.
