Chelsea are looking to secure the services of Olympique Lyonnais midfielder Nabil Fekir this summer. According to recent reports, the Blues are monitoring the French ace’s progress at the Groupama Stadium and could make a move for him when the transfer window opens in the summer.
The 24-year-old has put in a number of outstanding performances for the French side during the course of this campaign which has not gone unnoticed. Some sources are claiming that Antonio Conte’s team are set to battle it out with Liverpool and several other English sides in pursuit of the French international’s signature.
The West Londoners are now in pole position to land the Lyon midfielder this summer as they look to hijack Liverpool’s attempt to sign the player. Fekir has made 38 appearances for the Ligue 1 team this season, scoring 22 goals while providing 7 assists across all competitions. His current contract with Lyon is set to expire in the summer of 2020. Hence, the French outfit will be under no pressure to sell unless they receive an offer in the region of £62m, the same fee which they have reportedly agreed with Liverpool for their prized asset.
The West London team has a tally of 69 points after playing a total of 36 times and are currently sitting in the fifth position in the league table with an important league match versus Huddersfield Town looming on the horizon. Antonio Conte’s side needs to make some quality acquisitions in the summer so that they can compete for some major trophies next term.
The potential acquisition of Fekir will undoubtedly bolster Chelsea’s attacking options ahead of the new season. The West London outfit has the likes of Eden Hazard, Willian, Pedro, Cesc Fabregas and Ross Barkley vying for a place in Conte’s starting eleven. The addition of Fekir will definitely add more competition for places within the Blues team and improve their squad depth significantly in the upcoming campaign.

Only time will tell what lies ahead in the future of Fekir and whether he ends up making a switch to Stamford Bridge in search of more challenging adventure this summer.
