Celtic have been reportedly given time till the end of the month to sign PSG star Odsonne Edouard on a permanent deal by the French giants. The Scottish giants brought in the young striker on loan from Paris this season and his spell at Parkhead has been very successful.
The player is reportedly moderately priced with PSG demanding £5m upfront and the other £5m in other additional fees and clauses. The fee for such a player is expected but it will still be a risk for Celtic to take.
The player for his part has expressed his desire to stay at the club.
“For me, it’s the best option to stay at Celtic. I’m comfortable at the club, with the team and the coach. My objective is to stay here.” He added: “Celtic is a top club, they have a top coach, who has helped me step up a level.”
“Next year, I want to play for France U21. It was unforgettable,” Edouard said of a meeting with PSG at Celtic Park in September. It’ll stay with me for life. I was on the bench and looked up – it was incredible. After the game, the PSG players were stunned by the atmosphere.”
I’m going to remember this all my life because it’s my first title,” he said. “I’m very happy for the team and for myself.”
He also talked about his healthy relation with his senior striker, Moussa Dembele. “Me and Moussa speak a lot,” he said. “Every match we usually talk to each other before the match, whoever is playing. Moussa had a message of encouragement for me before the game.”
“Every match is different,” he said. “What Moussa did last season was extraordinary. But this match is a different environment, it’s a different context. I just went out there and did what I know how to do and play my game. I’m happy to be on the scoresheet and in the end we’ve won the game – that’s what’s important.”
“I really love this club. If the decision was up to me I’d like to stay. But I can only do so much.”

It will now be upto Celtic to decide on his future. The player is someone who can definitely become a star in the future but is certainly a risk right now. He is yet to prove himself and for Celtic to spend £5m upfront on a player just like that might not be the best idea.
However, there is also the case of having a decent number of options up front. Celtic’s first choice striker, Dembele, has been linked with a move away from the club for quite some time now. Should Dembele indeed leave this summer, the Hoops will be desperately short up front and might need a player like Edouard to cover their thin squad.
