According to recent reports, Brighton And Hove Albion have made an official approach towards Reading FC defender, Liam Moore. The 25-year-old has been with the Royals for two seasons now and has impressed plenty with his solid displays at the back.
The Seagulls, on the other hand, are ready to bolster the squad ahead of the 2018/19 season but have been swayed to address some of their own transfer concerns. For instance, their backup centre-back, Connor Goldson, is high on the wishlist of Scottish Premiership outfit, Rangers FC who have seen two of their bids get rejected.
Steven Gerrard has no let up just yet and is planning to make a third one soon which leaves Albion in a tough spot. Goldson is one of the only two senior rotational options they have in the position after Uwe Hünemeier’s departure to SC Paderborn 07.
They made some fast moves to sign Leon Blugan from FSV Mainz earlier this week but would still require more options to survive in the English top-flight. While Shane Duffy and Lewis Dunk are capable enough to play every minute of Premier League football, Chris Hughton cannot take on that gamble while fighting for survival next season.
Brighton made a brilliant start on their return to the first division, finishing 7 points ahead of the relegation positions. Hughton has been successful in grinding out wins wherever possible but the story will be hard to replicate without any additions.
The same can be said of Steven Gerrard’s Rangers team who are still recovering from the 5-0 thrashing they received from their bitter rivals Celtic last month. The former Liverpool captain has been tasked with returning the club to title-winning ways.
Gerrard has taken the job with a brilliant form of enthusiasm and has already made a signing in Scott Arfield. However, the defence needs to be addressed as much as the team’s offence. With Russell Martin returned to Norwich City and Bruno Alves constantly struggling with injuries, the 38-year-old needs a reliable head to knock out opposition attacks on a regular basis.
Goldson’s contributions will definitely be key but only if Brighton agrees to part ways with him. The signs are definitely shifting towards the Scottish outfit since Moore’s arrival will spell even more trouble for the centre-back’s team selection.

Maybe Gerrard should not hold back on making a final bid. If successful, this could be a major turning point in the Gers’ upcoming campaign.
