Recent reports state that Bournemouth are keen on signing Celtic left-back, Kieran Tierney in the coming summer window. The 20-year-old has quite deservedly earned the high praises and the on-going interest from some of the Premier League sides.
He has been a key ingredient in Brendan Rodgers’ success recipe this season, as seen in the 5-goal thrashing the Hoops dealt out to their bitter rivals, Rangers earlier in the month to claim their 7th consecutive Scottish Premiership title.
In the midst of all the celebrations, it would be ideal to take a look at Tierney’s heroics for the season. He has been one of the most influential players in the Celtic squad and shown footballing maturity well beyond his years. The youngster has not only filled his role as a defensive option but also managed to assist his teammate, Odsonne Edouard for the opening goal in the match, converting it into 11 assists for the season.
Tierney has been massive on the offensive end with his 4 goals in 54 total appearances. He clearly is a highly prized possession of the Hoops and does deserve a call-up from the Premier League big guns.
He is a boyhood fan of Celtic and has just recently signed a long-term contract, which would extend his services till the summer of 2023. Tierney is a product of the Celtic Youth Academy and has already been capped 9 times for the Scotland senior squad.
His abilities with the ball are what the catches the eye of plenty. He can defend and defend well. He can intercept, tackle and more importantly stretch the floor for his team’s attack. Other than the dutiful crosses from the left wing, Tierney has an eye for the right pass and knows how to lead his team from the back. He is as technical as any defender in world football.
Teams are excited at the idea of even getting him next summer and Bournemouth will have to put out all stops to sign the prodigy. The Cherries have had an excellent season this time and will finish mid-table, far from the threats of relegation. Their boss, Eddie Howe is a club legend and he has done wonders at the club who were in league two not so long ago.
Bournemouth have now registered themselves as one of the regulars of the English Premier League and it seems they want to take the next step by signing Tierney. The Cherries already have an exciting young defender at left back in the form of Nathan Ake but the Dutchman prefers to operate as a centre back and Tierney’s arrival might pave the way for that.

However, for Tierney, maybe the player should either hold out for better offers or continue developing in Scotland rather than making the early move to the other side of the border to a club which is not as established as the other big boys of England yet.
