Barcelona centre-back Yerri Mina who was signed in the January transfer window could move to Liverpool on loan in the summer. According to reports, the claims have been made by the player himself as he has been left frustrated by lack of first-team action at Camp Nou.
The Colombian defender has featured just four times since January, out of which two appearances were from the bench in the last 10 minutes. The 23-year-old defender moved to Catalonia from the Brazillian outfit Palmeiras. The defender has his contract until 2023 and in just six months, it seems he has ran out of patience.
Barcelona have used the experienced Gerard Pique and Samuel Umtiti as the regular centre-back pairing and both of them have done pretty well throughout the season. However, their vulnerabilities were showcased against AS Roma in the Champions League encounter as Edin Dzeko bullied the two centre-halves and inspired his team to a great comeback win. Nevertheless, it seems that Valverde is happy with them and as a result, Mina’s time on the pitch has been very limited. The Barcelona manager talked about the situation regarding the defender and said,”Yerry Mina is a centre-half and we have four in the squad. He came at a difficult time to be part of the team because it was the middle of the season, he has helped us and can still do it, but I trust the centre-backs I have.”
It is clearly evident that Mina will have to bide his time before he gets close to first-team action. Before joining Barcelona, he should have known that this would be on the cards and he would not straight away walk into the first eleven.
Liverpool are reportedly interested in him and will want to take advantage of the situation at Nou Camp. However, Barcelona despite not giving Mina regular first team action, will not want to lose the player so soon.

The Catalans were struggling to find a stable defensive option for Gerard Pique since Carlos Puyol left the club but it seems that their search is over since they signed Samuel Umititi. However, their backup options are thin at the moment as Thomas Vermaelen has been injury prone and Mina should be patient for his turn. It will be interesting to see whether Liverpool will move in and if Barcelona actually take up the Reds on the deal.
