Arsenal are monitoring the progress of OGC Nice winger Bassem Srarfi this summer. According to recent reports, the Gunners are tracking the Ligue 1 ace and could make a move for him during the summer transfer period.
The North London club are not the only ones looking to recruit him with Leicester City also keeping tabs on his development in France.
Some sources are now claiming that Arsenal have sent scouts to catch the Tunisia international in action when his nation took on Portugal in a friendly match recently. However, the youngster only featured in the final 14 minutes of the game.
Srarfi signed for Nice from Club Africain in the winter of 2017 for a fee in the region of €1.5m. The Tunisia winger went on to make 35 appearances for the Ligue 1 side last season, scoring 3 goals while grabbing one assist in all competitions. There is no doubt about his immense potential which indicates that it could be a shrewd signing for the Gunners as they look to build for a bigger and brighter future.
The North London side only managed to obtain a 6th placed finish in the Premier League last season which means that they won’t take part in the next edition of UEFA Champions League. Hence, Unai Emery should bring in some top quality players in this summer transfer period who can help them challenge for winning the major silverware in the near future.
The addition of Srarfi will undoubtedly bolster Emery’s attacking options at the Emirates Stadium going into the new season. Arsenal have a whole host of talented attackers such as Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Mesut Ozil, Danny Welbeck, Alex Iwobi and Ainsley Maitland-Niles vying for a starting berth in Emery’s first-team. The potential acquisition of Srarfi will add more competition for places within the Gunners squad and improve their team significantly in the upcoming campaign.
