Arsenal are in pole position to secure the services of OGC Nice midfielder Jean Michaël Seri this summer. According to recent reports, the Gunners are currently ahead of the pack who are in pursuit of the Ivory Coast international’s signature and are ready to make a move when the transfer window opens in the summer.
The Ligue 1 ace has a release clause in his contract with Nice that is believed to be in the region of £35m which could pave the way for his potential move out of French football. Some sources are now claiming that the North London side are in an ideal position to recruit the player due to Seri’s agent having a strong relationship with Arsenal’s new head of football relations Raul Sanllehi. It is understood that Sanllehi was close to agreeing on a deal for Seri to join Barcelona last summer when he used to be a board member at the Nou Camp.
However, it now appears that the Gunners have stolen a march on their rivals and are close to agreeing on a deal to sign the Ivory Coast midfielder in this upcoming summer transfer period. Seri has put in a number of outstanding performances for the Ligue 1 side during the course of this season which has not gone unnoticed. Recent reports suggest that a whole host of English clubs are currently monitoring his situation in France ahead of a potential move for the 26-year-old’s services in the off-season.
The North London outfit have ended their season in the 6th position in the league standings with a total tally of 60 points after playing 38 games in the English top-flight. Although, it has been a disappointing campaign for the Gunners this term yet Arsene Wenger’s exit as the Gunners manager could see a period of transition at the Emirates Stadium going into the new campaign.
The addition of Seri will undoubtedly bolster their midfield options next season. Arsenal have an array of midfield talents such as Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere, Mohamed Elneny, Granit Xhaka and Ainsley Maitland-Niles competing for a place in their first-team. The potential acquisition of Seri will add more competition within the Arsenal squad and improve their team significantly in the upcoming season.

The 26-year-old midfielder is versatile and can operate in a number of different positions across the midfield. Seri primarily plays as a central midfielder but can also be deployed on the right flank which makes him a perfect fit for the Gunners. Only time will tell what lies ahead in the future of Seri and whether the Gunners end up acquiring his signature in this summer transfer window.
