Arsenal are keeping tabs on Sevilla goalkeeper Sergio Rico ahead of a potential move this summer. According to recent reports, the Gunners are planning to make a move for the Spanish goalkeeper during this summer transfer period. It is believed that the new Arsenal manager Unai Emery wants to be reunited with his former player, whom he managed at Sevilla, at the Emirates Stadium in the summer.
Rico has put in a number of outstanding displays for the La Liga side during the course of last season which has not gone unnoticed. Some sources are now claiming that the North London outfit are interested in securing his services this summer with Emery looking to strengthen his squad ahead of the new season.
The Spanish goalie came through the youth ranks at Sevilla and has established himself as one of the best keepers in the Spanish top-flight. The 24-year-old had featured in 40 matches for the La Liga side last season, conceding 59 goals while keeping 13 clean sheets in all competitions. He is exactly the kind of keeper who can flourish under Emery if given the opportunity to showcase his talents at the North London club next season.
The London giants were only able to secure a 6th placed finish in the Premier League last season which means that they won’t take part in the UEFA Champions League for at least another year. Hence, the new Gunners boss is in dire need to bring in some talented young players who can flourish under his tutelage and help his side compete for top honours next term.
The addition of Rico will undoubtedly bolster Emery’s goalkeeping options ahead of the new season. Arsenal have a whole host of talented goalkeepers such as Petr Cech, David Ospina, Matthew Ryan Macey and Dejan Iliev competing for a starting berth at the Emirates Stadium. The potential acquisition of Rico will add more competition for places within Emery’s squad and improve their team significantly in the upcoming season.

Only time will tell what lies ahead in the future of Rico and whether the North London club can manage to convince him to ply his trade at the Emirates Stadium this summer.
