Oops! Sorry the trophy fell!
Is it a mere accident or does Kevin De Bruyne’s accidental drop of the trophy signal the point towards the title slipping away from Pep Guardiola next season?
Manchester City have had an entertaining season. Whether it be playing at home or away, the Blue team of Manchester has entertained the romantics of football across the world. The quality of their game has been classy to say the least and upon close inspection, it can be said that Guardiola has masterminded another intrinsic, well-drilled and supremely talented side into the champions of their domestic league football.
Throughout the season, they have scored goals galore and are likely to break Chelsea‘s nine-year-old record of netting the most goals in a single season. However, on the night they were crowned champions at the Etihad, the Citizens not only failed to collect three points but were also pegged to a goalless encounter.
The season is well shut for City who have dominated the league. They have not given any of their competitors even a sniff of a chance and have ruled the league from the very first month of the current season.
They now have two away games left, the first of which is a trip to the south coast of England to face Brighton and Hove Albion. Brighton pulled off a stunner last week when City’s cross-town rivals lost 1-0 and Chris Hughton’s men will be hoping to make it two out of two Manchester scalps.
City, however, will not be disrupted by any title celebrations this time and having failed to score a goal last time out, will be itching to get on the pitch and net a few at least. Pep Guardiola has a full squad to choose from and will not want to disappoint his fans by playing a completely second-string team. However, he might give Foden a chance after the youngster was left out of the pitch last week.
Here is how they might line up.
Formation: 4-3-3
Defence
Ederson can be expected to play in goal. The defence should constitute of Fabian Delph at left back with Walker on the right and John Stones and Aymeric Laporte in central defence.
Midfield
Fernandinho could play as the holding midfielder with David Silva to his left and Kevin De Bruyne to his right.
Attack
Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling should play from the wings with Gabriel Jesus up front.
