Yaya Toure has revealed that he wants to play for Manchester United and link up with their star man, Paul Pogba next season. According to recent reports, the Ivory Coast international has not ruled out a move to Old Trafford this summer and has stated that he is eager to ‘teach’ Paul Pogba.
The 35-year-old was released by Manchester City at the end of last season when his contract came to an end. However, the former City midfielder insists that he still wants to play in the English top-flight. With Jose Mourinho on the lookout for a new midfielder after the retirement of Michael Carrick recently, a move for Toure might not be too far-fetched.
In a recent interview, when Toure was asked about a potential switch to the Red half of Manchester, he was quoted to have said, “Let’s see, let’s see.”
“I don’t rule big teams out. The big teams are very important for me. What they want to achieve, the way they want to go, for me is very important.
“I want to go somewhere I can win and achieve.
“It’s going to be hard one day to play against City, but I have to do that. It is part of my job.
“I’ve been playing football for such a long time, I’m no good in the office or something else. I am good in football.
“To see myself at a different club is going to be difficult. I have been such a big part of City for such a long time now. I just want to say that definitely, I will continue to play at a high level – Champions League or Europa League.
“I want to play two more years. They have to be in the higher level and then I can do something else.”
Toure also added that he wants to play with Pogba and said, “Pogba is the same size, power – but different in the way he wants to go. Technically as well, the ability to score goals as well. It is a player I want to play with, to be honest, just to teach him some things.”
He went on to laugh and then added, “No, no, no, no. The fans are going to kill me!”
The Special One needs to recruit wisely in this summer transfer window so that his side are capable enough to challenge for major silverware next term.
The potential acquisition of Toure will undoubtedly bolster Mourinho’s midfield options at Old Trafford. United have a plethora of midfield talents such as Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Ander Herrera, Scott McTominay and Marouane Fellaini competing for a starting berth in Mourinho’s senior team. The addition of Toure will improve their team significantly and add more competition for places within the Red Devils squad.

At 35, the Ivory Coast midfielder still has a few years left in him which the Red Devils could look to utilise in the years to come. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Toure and whether he ends up playing with Paul Pogba in the United midfield next season.
