Queens Park Rangers midfielder, Sean Goss released a statement on his social media platform, thanking the fans of Rangers for their support and bidding them goodbye after his season-long spell at the Ibrox. Director of Gers Football, Mark Allen had previously stated that talks of a permanent move were being considered but nothing had progressed yet.
It is unlikely that the Light Blues will recall him for the upcoming season and this might affect their near future. Goss was one of Graeme Murty’s signings, in pursuit of taking the side to title-winning standards.
The central midfielder came in as a backup option to Josh Windass and also to fill in from deep roles from time-to-time. However, the Englishman’s impact has been less than ideal with the Rangers team, especially in the late stages of the 2017/18 campaign.
He struggled to find his feet in the Scottish Premiership and still looks to be in the midst of the development phase. He was given a fair shot at proving his worth but failed to do so unlike his fellow on-loan teammates, Jamie Murphy and Jason Cummings (former has already signed a permanent deal).
The new Steven Gerrard regime has taken an ambitious approach to bringing some high-profile names into the club. The club for too long has festered in the shadows of their bitter rivals, Celtic which needs to change right away.
Matching the Hoops talent pool will be hard with the transfer budget Gerrard has at hand but there are a few gems lying around he could snap up for cheap. Here are a few players he should consider as Goss’ replacement.
Marko Grujic
The Liverpool man has found life hard at Anfield since making his switch from Red Star Belgrade in January 2016. He was loaned out to Cardiff City for the latter half of the 2017/18 season and has done relatively well.
Grujic can not only command the midfield from the deep positions he can also formulate the attack. Maybe Gerrard will be able to work out a loan deal with his former club.
Lucas Leiva
Lucas was rumoured to be in talks with Rangers for a potential move this summer. Another ex-Liverpool man with a lot of top-flight experience who could do wonders with the Scottish outfit. A solid defensive head who will clear out any sort of threats from the central positions.

Jack Rodwell
Sunderland has been relegated to the League One and Rodwell has reportedly ended ties with the side despite being on their payroll. He wants to depart from the Stadium Of Light and is on the lookout for interested outfits. Maybe a starting role at Rangers will be enough to convince him.
