West Ham United target Aaron Mooy has expressed his desire to stay at Huddersfield Town. This will come as a big blow to the Hammers who are looking to improve their team under new boss Manuel Pellegrini.
Aaron Mooy has been one of the most vital cogs in the Terriers lineup and has shown great composure to help them stay back in the top flight for the next season. West Ham United’s reported interest in him might have been a cause of concern for David Wagner’s side but now that the Aussie star has cleared the air, it will come as a big boost for them for sure.
With the Mooy transfer looking unlikely, here are three other options West Ham can consider.
Danny Drinkwater
The Chelsea midfielder joined the Blues on the transfer deadline day move from Leicester City. He was a key part of the Leicester team but failed to make his mark on the team at Stamford Bridge. He has failed to make the cut in the first team and has been demoted to a bench role.
Drinkwater is a typical English midfielder. He is robust, tackles hard and can take shots on goal. However, at Chelsea, he has been unable to flourish under Antonio Conte’s tutelage. West Ham could look to take advantage of the situation and bring him in. He would get the first-team role at the London stadium, something that might work out to the advantage of both the player and the club.
Scott McTominay
Not every young player at Manchester United is able to make the cut into the first team squad these days. Gone are the days of Sir Alex Ferguson when the first team consisted of more than 7-8 homegrown players.
Under their current boss, Jose Mourinho, it has been difficult for the United youngsters. Mourinho is an extremely pragmatic manager who prefers older, experienced players over the exuberance of youth. Hence it was quite surprising to find young Scott McTominay not only break into the first team squad but also make regular appearances for the Red Devils.
He is tall, has a good build and can turn out to be a good number 6. However, if United were to buy any new player this summer, McTominay might be forced to sit on the bench. Instead, the player can seek out a loan to get more game time and that is where West Ham United can move in for him.
Joe Willock
The Arsenal star got several crucial minutes of football in the Europa League this season. He is a young player with excellent ball skills. He is a smooth operator with a good battery and has the pace to outrun opponents.

He still needs regular game time, something that is unlikely to happen at Arsenal. Maybe a loan move to West Ham United can give him what he needs to take his game to the next level.
