It is pretty evident that Leeds United are in the reckoning to sign Kyle Bartley from Swansea City after he had a good loan spell with them in the 2016-17 campaign. However, other clubs are also vying for the defender and Rangers seem to be in the mix along with the Whites to sign the 26-year-old Englishman.
Leeds United will probably be the favourites to get their man. Bartley had previously commented(Regarding his stint at Elland Road), ”I’ve said many times this season that I’ve loved every minute here, it’s been a fantastic club for me. The fans have been great, the staff have been great and the players are fantastic.”
However, Paul Heckingbottom needs to prepare himself for the scenario if he doesn’t get his man. Swansea City will also like to have him as they are in the Championship and Bartley has good experience of playing there. They might also lose out on Alfie Mawson to a top division club and that will make Bartley an important player for the Swans.
The Whites have made him their prime target and it’s been quite a while since they have been linked with him. However, nothing has materialised and as the transfer window goes on Leeds fans will be becoming anxious.
In a situation where Leeds don’t manage to get him, we look at three possible options that the Peacocks can go after instead.
Jake Cooper
The defender was impressive for Millwall in their unlikely push towards playoff spot which they missed out by just three points. Nevertheless, it was a great season for the Lions after being promoted to the Championship just one year back. Cooper was a constant presence for them at the back as he played all the games and even managed to score some crucial goals. The 23-year-old will certainly be a good long-term defensive option for the Whites.
Curtis Good
The Newcastle United defender is set to be out of contract in the summer and they can get this once highly rated 25-year-old Australian defender. His time at Newcastle was plagued with injuries. However, he has overcome that and will be looking for a new beginning at a new club.

Alex Pearce
The Derby County defender has been used sporadically this season and has one year left on his contract with the Rams. The Irishman has represented his national team and he could be a good experienced option for Paul Heckingbottom at the back.
