Rangers FC have parted ways with Graeme Murty, who served as the caretaker manager of the Scottish outfit for the past 6 months. He was primarily the head coach of the Gers development squad and had earlier been placed on interim duty when Mark Warburton was axed as well.
The bosses at Ibrox gave him the similar role after Pedro Caixinha’s incompetence was done away with in October 2017. Murty proved to be a good transitional boss but not capable of really challenging the tactical genius of Brendan Rodgers.
The Light Blues suffered two humiliating losses to their bitter rivals, Celtic over the past month and have conceded the league title. The 5-0 thrashing last weekend was the last straw for the 44-year-old in close contention to the wishes of the ownership and the fans.
Murty’s coaching career has been short-lived and still needs further development. What his 6-month spell at the managerial seat has proven to us is his future ability to be a top manager. While he is a stable man manager he still needs to learn the ins and outs of the head coach job, especially when you are competing against highly established professionals in the European stage.
He could take a step back and continue learning the trade by coaching the youth squad or as an assistant manager. Or he could take up offers from some of the demanding English sides.
Here are a few clubs who should consider his services.
Two consecutive relegations in two seasons is not the mark of a club who are set for a promising future. In retrospect, the Black Cats have managed to slide down the prickly shute of third division English football and looks to be on the cliff of another downslide.
Chris Coleman has just been disposed of and the managerial chair remains empty. An immediate change needs to be implemented and Murty could be the man for the job.

The Tractor Boys have also gotten rid of Mick McCarthy and are currently being led by caretaker boss, Bryan Klug. Not sure if Murty is the right man to lead them to the playoffs next season but a formal approach could be made.
