Some sources are now claiming that the Shakhtar boss is out of the running for the West Ham job. Fonseca has been outstanding over the last few years at the Donbass Arena and has won three major trophies during his time at Donetsk. The 45-year-old has taken charge of 93 matches, winning 73, drawing 8 and losing 12 of those matches with a healthy Points Per Average (PPG) of 2,44.
With Fonseca set to stay with the Ukrainians, let’s take a look at three potential alternative managerial candidates that the Hammers should consider in this summer transfer period.
Marco Silva
The Portuguese manager has gained some valuable experience in English football during his time at Hull City and Watford. He is synonymous with playing beautiful, eye-catching football which is exactly what the West Ham support are craving for! Silva was sacked by the Hornets last season and could be available for a managerial return this summer if the East London club can convince him to ply his trade at the London Stadium.
Carlos Carvalhal
The Swansea City boss’ contract is set to run out at the end of the next month. The Portuguese manager came into the Welsh club when they were in deep relegation trouble and managed to give them a chance of survival by pulling off some miraculous results against some of English football’s best team. However, the Swans ended up getting demoted which has thrown his future in doubt. The Hammers should definitely look to recruit him as he has the potential to become a successful manager in English football.

Steve Bruce
The Manchester United legend is doing a wonderful job with Aston Villa as his side is in with a good chance to earn a route back to the English top-flight. The Villans will clash heads with Fulham in the Championship play-off final later this month. He is highly experienced in English football and will be a shrewd appointment for the East London club if they can pull off such a deal.
