Arsenal are set to offer a new deal to keep Jack Wilshere at the North London club beyond this summer. According to recent reports, the Gunners are ready to persuade their English midfielder to extend his stay at the club amidst reports linking him with a move away from the Emirates Stadium.
Some sources have recently claimed that Arsenal have offered him a new contract, which would see Wilshere earn in excess of £100,000 a week, in their efforts to keep hold of their prized asset when the transfer window opens in the summer.
There are no doubts about the England international’s qualities on the pitch as he has proven time and time again that he can be a match-winner for the Gunners. However, Wilshere has been plagued with injuries in recent times which has seen him miss a lot of matches for the Gunners over the last few years. The Arsenal midfield ace will be out of contract at the end of the current season and will be free to choose his next destination.
The 26-year-old has made 38 appearances for the North London outfit this season, registering two goals while grabbing six assists in all competitions. This recent development will definitely be a big boost for Arsenal fans as they hope to see Wilshere in action at the Emirates Stadium for years to come.
Wenger’s team looks set to finish in the sixth position in the English top-flight and currently have a tally of 57 points after Gameweek 36. The Gunners will need to strengthen their squad in the summer transfer period as they look to close the gap between themselves and their top 4 rivals next season.
Arsene Wenger’s club cannot afford to lose a player of Wilshere’s talents, especially considering how the club decided to part ways with Alexis Sanchez when the Chilean star opted to move to Manchester United during the January transfer period. The London side should do everything in their power to retain Wilshere’s services for the coming years. The English midfielder has already proven his worth in the past so to lose somebody of his calibre will undoubtedly be a massive blow for the North Londoners ahead of the new season.
