Wolves are looking to make a swoop for Dundee FC goalkeeper Scott Bain in the summer. According to recent reports, the Skybet Championship leaders are lining up a move for the Scottish keeper, who has impressed since making his loan switch to Celtic in January. The 26-year-old has gone through a tough campaign in the Scottish Premiership after beginning the season as Dee’s first-choice goalkeeper only to be dropped by Neil McCann for disciplinary reasons.
He spent a short loan spell at Hibernian before his big move to Celtic Park during the winter transfer window. The Hoops captured his signature on a loan deal as they needed a cover for Dorus de Vries after their first-choice keeper Craig Gordon was sidelined with a serious injury. Bain put in a solid display in Celtic’s crucial victory versus Rangers in the Old Firm derby, a few weeks ago which has not gone unnoticed.
The Wolves have emerged as a potential destination for the 26-year-old as they look to prepare for life in the Premier League next season. However, they are not the only ones looking to secure his signature as the Hoops as well as Stoke City are also interested in signing him this summer.
Wolves are leading the Championship table by five points going into the final seven matches of the season. However, Cardiff City are hot on their heels and are not ready to give up in the title race. Nuno Espirito Santo’s side has been at the top of the Skybet Championship table for the majority of this season and are now preparing for life in the top-flight next season.
The addition of Bain will undoubtedly bolster Santo’s goalkeeping options ahead of the new campaign as they look to avoid relegation from the top tier of English football. The West Midlands outfit have the likes of Carl Ikeme, Harry Burgoyne and John Ruddy vying for a place in Santo’s first-team so the potential signing of Bain will definitely add more competition for places in their squad.
Bain has featured in 20 matches in the Scottish Premiership, shipping in 32 goals while keeping 4 clean sheets in all competitions. At 26, he still has his peak years ahead of him which Wolves could look to utilise in the coming years. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Bain and whether he ends up making a switch to the Molineaux Stadium in the near future.
