West Ham United are being linked with a move for FC Porto forward Moussa Marega ahead of a potential move next summer. According to recent reports, the Hammers are keeping tabs on the 27-year-old striker and could make an offer for him when the transfer window opens in the summer.
It is believed that the East Londoners have sent scouts to catch him in action in the top tier of Portuguese football. Some sources are claiming that David Moyes is planning a long stay at the London Stadium and is on the lookout for some new players in the summer transfer window who can improve the quality of their squad next season.
Marega has a release clause of £35m in his current contract with FC Porto and could be set for a move to the Premier League in the summer. The Mali international has put in some dazzling displays for Porto during the course of this campaign. He has made a total of 36 appearances for Porto this season, scoring 21 goals while providing 7 assists in all competitions. His goal-scoring record in the Portuguese league is nothing short of phenomenal and the Hammers will do well to prize him away from the Estádio do Dragão in the off-season.
The Hammers are currently occupying the 14th spot in the Premier League table with a tally of 35 points after 33 league games. However, they are still not completely out of relegation danger with only 7 points separating them from the drop zone and 18th placed Southampton going into the final few matches of the campaign.
The addition of Marega will undoubtedly bolster David Moyes’ attacking options ahead of the new season as they look to build on their league performance next term. West Ham have the likes of Javier Hernandez, Andy Carroll, Diafra Sakho and Marko Arnautovic vying for a place in Moyes’ starting eleven. The potential acquisition of Marega will definitely add more competition for places in the Hammers squad as they look to secure a strong league finish in the new campaign.
