West Ham United are monitoring the development of Newcastle United forward Aleksandar Mitrovic, who is currently on loan at Fulham, ahead of a potential move next summer. According to recent reports, the Hammers are keeping tabs on the 23-year-old striker after West Ham boss David Moyes was in attendance to witness Fulham’s 2-0 victory over Leeds United on Tuesday night.
It is believed that the Hammers are scouting three Fulham players which include Mitrovic, Ryan Fredericks and Tom Cairney. Some sources are claiming that David Moyes is planning a long stay at the London Stadium and is on the lookout for some new players in the summer transfer window who can improve the quality of their squad next season. If the Cottagers end up missing out on promotion this season, the Hammers could seal a cut-price deal with the Magpies for the Serbian international.
Mitrovic has been in terrific form for the West London outfit in recent matches and has caught the eye after going out on loan at Craven Cottage during the January transfer window. He has featured in 11 matches for Fulham in the Skybet Championship, scoring 8 goals and providing one assist so far. His recent performances have increased his stock significantly and now, David Moyes’ side could hand me a second shot in the Premier League next term.
The Hammers are currently sitting in the 14th position in the Premier League rankings after putting in a magnificent display in their 3-0 win versus Southampton in the last gameweek. However, they are still not completely out of relegation danger with only 5 points separating them from the drop zone and 18th placed Southampton going into the business end of the season.
The addition of Mitrovic will undoubtedly bolster David Moyes’ attacking options ahead of the new season as they look to build on their league performance next season. The East Londoners have the likes of Javier Hernandez, Andy Carroll, Diafra Sakho and Marko Arnautovic vying for a place in Moyes’ first-team. The potential signing of Mitrovic will likely add more competition for places in the Hammers squad as they look to secure a strong league finish in the new campaign.

At 23, Mitrovic still has his peak years ahead of him which West Ham could look to utilise in the coming years. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Mitrovic and whether he ends up making a switch to the London Stadium in the near future.
