When Mauricio Pochettino put together this young Tottenham Hotspur side, not everyone was convinced of its quality and potential. However, every player played out of their skin and produced results for people to see. Pochettino developed young stars like Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Eric Dier. He rejuvenated players like Hugo Lloris and Jan Vertonghen. He also gave fresh life to the not so perfect players like Danny Rose.
The case for Rose was interesting. The 27-year old defensive star was regarded as one top fullbacks in England over the last few years. The Tottenham star’s eccentric form caught everyone’s attention.
Despite making a dream debut for Spurs, his career at White Hart Lane never took off initially and he was out on loan for a while. It was only after Pochettino’s arrival that he became the star he is. Short and stout in size, he has excellent pace, knows a good dribble and is a strong opponent. He is the ideal modern day fullback given his ability to play in a high temp.
However, things have not been so rosy for the player at Spurs this season. It was at the beginning of this season last year when he publicly reprimanded Tottenham’s wage system and thereby insulted his own club.
What followed was further bad luck as the player was forced out of the squad due to an injury and it was much later that he became fit again. In his absence, his deputy Ben Davies had not only taken over the role but done a tremendous job of it.
Davies’s form, Rose’s injury and Rose’s ill-fated wage comments meant that Pochettino was not keen to fit the England star back in a hurry. It seems now that his Spurs career could take a further hit with Daniel Levy set to make a move for Ryan Bertrand.
The Southampton star has been in excellent form for club and country and is currently England’s number one choice. He is a former Chelsea player who, like many others, failed to shine at West London. However, his move to Southampton gave the player some breathing space and Bertrand has filled in with some excellent performances to raise his stock.

It seems now that Spurs are interested in him and would want to take him back to London. As for Bertrand, he should accept the move as it would mean that his career has taken another step in the right path if he can cut it out a big club like Tottenham.
