Wolverhampton Wanderers are looking all set to play in the Premier League next season. They have been brilliant this season and certainly deserve to lift the Championship silverware. However, the English top-flight is known for the animosity that it has on offer.
Nuno Espirito Santo would be keen to beef up his squad in the summer to make their presence felt amongst the elite clubs in the country and here are three players he should be aiming to target during the summer transfer window.
Matej Vydra
Derby County’s prolific attacker, Matej Vydra, would be a sensational signing for Wolverhampton Wanderers. Predominantly a centre-forward, Vydra is capable enough to operate from either wing and there is no denying that he is one of the most clinical forwards that Championship has on offer at the moment.
The 25-year-old has plundered 19 goals and has also registered 3 assists to his name from 34 appearances in the Championship this season, including his goal in Derby County’s 3-0 win over Bolton Wanderers in their latest league fixture. The Rams must be reluctant to lose him in the summer but the Wolves need to try to lure him to their ranks by hook or by crook.
Steven Berghuis
Feyenoord’s winger, Steven Berghuis, has smashed 13 goals and has registered 12 assists in 28 appearances in the Eredivisie so far this season. He has been in a red-hot form throughout this campaign and there is no denying that he has been one of the most influential figures in the attacking sector of the Dutch outfit.
Berghuis has also scored 1 goal and has garnered 2 assists to his name from 6 appearances in the Champions League. He is an excellent passer of the ball and thanks to his movements, he causes a lot of havoc in opposition’s defence. Besides, he crosses in an astute manner, is clinical and would certainly enhance the quality of Espirito Santo’s attacking arsenal.
Joao Carvalho
The Portuguese connection of the Wolves is not unknown and last year, the club was linked with Benfica’s central midfielder, Joao Carvalho. Carvalho might not have had adequate amount of chances with the Portuguese giants but that doesn’t take away the fact that he is a dazzling youngster with lots of potential.
With the likes of Ruben Neves, Alfred N’Diaye and Romain Saiss already in the ranks of Wolverhampton Wanderers, it would not be easy for Carvalho to steer his way into the starting line-up if he moves to the Molineux Stadium in the summer. However, he can develop himself under Espirito Santo and could be a vital asset for them in the near future.
