Reports from France state that RC Strasbourg striker, Stéphane Bahoken has caught of the eyes of multiple Premier League outfits and Serie A club, Udinese. Swansea City are keeping close tabs on the 25-year-old and could make a serious move ahead of the summer transfer window.
Bahoken has netted the ball 8 times in his 26 total appearances for the Ligue 1 outfit despite a part of the season due to injury. He has racked up 92 appearances for Strasbourg over the course of the past 4 seasons scoring 21 in total and furthering 5 assists.
The France-born winger played his early years for the youth side of his birth country but later opted to represent Cameroon. He has been capped once for the African nation and 4 times for the France U20 side.
Bahoken has spent his entire playing career with France, starting with OGC Nice, spending a season out on loan to St Mirren and eventually getting traded to RCS. The Swans are vetting his abilities at the moment but is expected to face heavy resistance from the parent club, not to mention the incoming competition from Stoke City and Aston Villa.
Bahoken’s incredible 8-goal tally in 14 starts seems to have impressed the City scouts but is it enough for a call-up to the Premier League? Swansea have struggled to put up a winning run this season and have spent the majority of it rooted to the bottom of the entire table.
However, Carvalhal’s appointment, they have succeeded in digging themselves out of the bottom-three and might just be able to finish there if Southampton and Stoke City continue to drop points in the final stretch of the season (West Brom being ruled out completely because of their 9-point deficit).
Jordan Ayew has proven to be their saviour in front of the goal while the rest have struggled to get going this season. The uneventful spells to Manchester City and Stoke might have killed all the confidence in Wilfried Bony as he looked shockingly bad this campaign.
The Ivory Coast international has managed to score just 4 times and is currently ruled out with an injury. Tammy Abraham has impressed but he is due to return to Chelsea following this campaign.
A permanent number nine needs to be signed ahead of the 2018/19 campaign so that the woes of the present season does not get replicated. It would be wise for Swansea to scout more players than making an instinct buy.
