Some big claims from Spanish news outlet, Don Balon reveals that Real Madrid are mighty close to a €175m transfer move for Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane. The 25-year-old has been high on their radar for quite some time and reports indicate that Florentino Perez has already figured out a way to sign him.
The Galactico president wants to utilise the injury-stricken Gareth Bale as a bargaining chip for facilitating Kane’s transfer. The former wants to make a return to his former side and Madrid are prepared to channel their losses this summer.
However, if they get the England number nine it would not be a loss in any manner, would it? Bale in this market is nowhere close to the €100m that Los Blancos paid for him back 5 seasons back. His constant spells on the sidelines have depreciated his value significantly along with the decline in his athletic abilities due to his age.
At 28, he could be utilised to cut out a huge chunk of the Spurs’ asking price for Kane even though the switch is expected to be a record-breaking one. In retrospect, if the move does end up falling through next summer, it could massive news for the Santiago Bernabeu fans.
They will be glad to see the potential successor of the great Cristiano Ronaldo himself, make his way out to the Spanish capital after impressing against them in the UEFA Champions League group stages.
However, where does this leave Tottenham and Kane’s dream of winning the Premier League title? The striker had previously revealed his intentions to stay with the North London side for the remainder of his contract.
He was quoted saying, “I dreamed of playing for Spurs since I was a boy. For a long time, my motivation was simply to close my eyes and picture myself scoring against Arsenal in the Premier League. Done that a few times now, and it never gets old. But now, my motivation is a bit different. Now, I close my eyes and I picture myself lifting the Premier League trophy at our new stadium with my mates. I’d trade the next 100 goals for that feeling. We’ve been close the past few seasons, but there’s only one way to close the gap – and I’m afraid it’s quite a boring answer. As my dad would say, we’ve gotta keep working, keep doing. Keep getting on with it.”
Kane is the best striker in England right now and has just boosted his goal tally to over 100 in the Premier League with a goal against Liverpool in the 2-2 draw earlier in the year. A graduate of the Tottenham academy and a regular starter for the national team, Kane has racked up an inspiring 31 goals in 32 total appearances this season and is the first player to break Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo’s two-way monopoly over the highest goal-getters in a single year in 2017.
With bags of talent and ambition inside an athletic 6 feet figure, Kane is the golden boy who has emerged from the youth ranks and has propelled Tottenham into becoming a serious title-contending side.

Maybe the offer from Real might be too good for the strike to turn down. He is already at the peak of his playing career and has not yet won a major trophy in England. That needs to change if he wants his name to be etched on the books of footballing history.
