Fresh reports have surfaced stating Real Madrid’s intentions to give soon to be out-of-contract midfielder, Emre Can an escape from Liverpool. The German’s future has been speculated upon heavily for the better part of the season and had even drawn heavy links with Serie A giants, Juventus.
Now it looks like the 2-time European champions can woo the 24-year-old with a more lucrative offer and promises of an illustrious career. Madrid in itself is a continental powerhouse who can buy almost anyone they want with the financial leverage they have.
Can will not only arrive for free but he will bring a lot of top-flight experience from both Germany and England. He could be an ideal fit in the Galacticos midfield and can prove as a strong backup for the Brazilian defensive midfielder, Casemiro.
Zinedine Zidane could lose out on a couple of his key players next summer if all the rumours about Florentino Perez’s desires are true. It was previously speculated that the Madrid president was laying down the tracks for the transfer of Brazilian superstar, Neymar and was prepared to offload some of the first-team players.
Toni Kroos has been heavily linked with Manchester United in recent weeks along with his midfield partner, Luka Modric. Even Gareth Bale is predicted to quit the Santiago Bernabeu following a torrid season of injuries and bench appearances.
Whether Neymar or Mohamed Salah will sign with the Los Blancos is yet to be seen but Can has a higher probability of ending up at the Spanish capital. The German has the pedigree to fulfil the demands of the highly decorated club and is well suited to Zidane’s offensive system.
Even though a defensive midfielder by trade, Can enjoy playing in more attacking positions and having more of a presence in formulating his team’s chances. Standing at 6 feet tall, he is well capable of making a mark on both ends of the pitch. He is strong and technically adept to control possession in the midfield but also has decent tackling and game-reading ability.
He was once a highly esteemed prospect in the Bayer Leverkusen squad and in the German national team youth ranks. The Frankfurt-born midfielder has 50 caps for his country in the youth stages and 20 for the senior team. He is expected to travel to Russia for the 2018 FIFA World Cup but with the fierce competition, nothing can be said for sure.
