Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has stated that his future lies with the North Londoners amidst speculation linking him with a move away from Spurs. According to recent reports, the Argentine boss has clarified his comments made after his side’s 2-1 FA Cup defeat at the hands of Manchester United last weekend. In the post-match interview after the game, he was quoted to have said, “Tottenham need more time with me or with another, but the most important thing is to keep going and keep developing that philosophy that is fantastic for this club.”
However, Pochettino reaffirmed his desire to stay at the club for the long-run. He used his pre-match press conference ahead of Spurs’ Monday night encounter with Watford as an opportunity to state that his long-term future remains at Spurs. He said, “It was not a message I was sending to someone, I was only explaining in the context of the question that the project is so strong [and] we believe in this project,”
“The club cannot behave like different clubs and I think the club needs to keep going with the project, keep pushing in this direction, trying to achieve all the things that the club want.
“But it was not a message for someone. It was what I felt and I told you how I feel. I am working, and I work, in every single project at every single club like I am going to be here for life. The only thing I wanted to translate is that the club is in the right way, that we cannot compare, that we need time to win.
“After three or four years now we are able to compete with clubs like United, City, Chelsea or Liverpool but there is still a lot of work to do.

The North London side are in the 4th spot in the league table with a healthy tally of 68 points after Gameweek 35. However, Pochettino faces another season without winning any major silverware which will be a cause for concern for the Tottenham supporters. Their only opportunity for a trophy this term was dashed last weekend when they were narrowly defeated by Manchester United at the Wembley Stadium.
Retaining their Argentine boss would be integral if Tottenham are to challenge on all fronts next season. Pochettino has steadily managed to make progress in North London over the last few years and could be on the verge of winning some silverware in the coming years.
