Manchester United are planning a major swap deal with Paris Saint-Germain in pursuit of their Brazilian striker Neymar this summer. According to recent reports, the Red Devils are willing to offer Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial if it means they can seal a move for Neymar when the transfer window opens in the summer.
It is being reported that the Brazilian superstar appears totally unsettled in the French capital with some sources also claiming that Jose Mourinho’s team would have to give up both Pogba and Martial plus around £50m if they are to prize the Brazilian maestro away from the Parc des Princes. Neymar is currently out injured and is likely to miss the remainder of the campaign for the Frech giants.
Meanwhile, both Pogba and Martial has struggled to hold on to their respective places in Mourinho’s first-team during the course of this season. A mega transfer involving the duo could materialise if the players are keen to move on to greener pastures next term. United will do well to secure Neymar’s signature in the off-season but they would end up losing two key players of their squad in the process. For now, any such transfer just seems like ‘paper-talk’ ahead of a potentially huge summer transfer period for both clubs.
The Reds of Manchester are currently occupying the second position in the Premier League rankings with a tally of 71 points in 32 league matches. Mourinho’s men grabbed a crucial victory in the Manchester derby last weekend when they came back from two goals down to win 3-2 versus Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
The addition of a player of the calibre of Neymar will undoubtedly bolster Mourinho’s attacking options ahead of the new season. However, the departure of Pogba and Martial could significantly deplete their squad next term if they fail to bring in some suitable replacements. Both Pogba and Martial are French and could flourish with a return to their homeland which makes it a good move for all parties.
