Marcus Rashford the young Manchester United star has been one of the bright spots in a time when Manchester United have seen their stock go down. It was being speculated that Rashford can leave Old Trafford after this season but according to recent reports Manchester United will not entertain any offers for the English forward.
Rashford, burst onto the scene when he scored two goals on his debut against Arsenal. Louis Van Gall is credited with bringing Rashford to the first team and since then Rashford has gone from strength to strength. United have struggled offensively for quite some time now but Rashford has time and again provided the much-needed spark for the Red Devils.
The reason why Rashford, was being linked with a move away, because it was thought that he will get less playing time with United acquiring new attacking talents like Alexis Sanchez. But Rashford has held his own even in such situation and has featured regularly under Mourinho. In fact, he has made the highest number of appearances for any Manchester United player under Mourinho, playing 97 times of Mourinho’s 112 games in charge.
When asked about this stat in an interview, Rashford said-‘’ I wasn’t aware of it before I saw it and it’s something to be proud of. He further added, ”But we always want more and we always want to show progression individually and as a team, so the numbers don’t really matter as much as the results do to me.”
United are currently sitting pretty at the second spot in the Premier League and have a big semi-final to play against Tottenham in the Fa cup competition. Mourinho came under huge criticism when his team failed to beat Sevilla in the pre-quarters round of the Champions League. This caused a huge uproar against the manager and his playing philosophy.

Rashford as a player has done well when he has been given the opportunity. He usually plays on the left but can play as a striker as well. He is someone who has good pace and is willing to run at defenders and take them on one on one. Such attributes have made him one of the fan favourites. United are expected to get some more attacking talent in the summer as they will look to close the gap next season, in a bid to reclaim the Premier League. In that scenario, Rashford’s game time might reduce but we have seen that Mourinho as a player like him and he will still be a vital member in Mourinho’s plan for the future.
