The one at the centre of heavy speculation throughout the 2017/18 season, Manchester United‘s Paul Pogba has recently come out and acknowledged all media headlines surrounding his name. The Frenchman was rumoured to have been involved in a riff with the manager, Jose Mourinho but Pogba confirmed otherwise.
He was quoted saying, “I have no problem with him, and I don’t think he has a problem [with me]. He put me in as captain and he has given me responsibilities in a great club like United. I am a player, and I like to give the best of myself. He is the coach, he has to make decisions and I am a player, I accept them, I have to answer on the pitch.”
Pogba is the most expensive player in the Red Devils squad and is quite evidently the face of the club. When a player of his stature get substituted or dropped from the starting lineup on multiple occasions, questions will start to creep into the minds of fans and critics.
We all know about the strict policy Mourinho holds against every single one of the players he manages. The Portuguese tactician is not shy of dropping players from squads no matter how established they might be. He did it at Chelsea with Juan Mata and at Real Madrid with Iker Casillas.
Pogba in his shoes is do not paint a humble, pragmatic fellow who just wants to kick the ball around when given the chance. The Frenchman is a fashion icon and has plenty of entertainment qualities within him, which eventually forces the audience to see him as a showboat rather than a shrewd professional.
If you discount the midfielder’s abilities even for a second, you need to take a step back and roll back the video reel from his United academy days. From his Juventus days to the present, Pogba has been creative heart of every team he has played in and is a major figure in the Red Devils lineup, even under Mourinho.
His performance against Manchester City in the 2-3 away win should be alone to confirm his passion and commitment to the game.
Even he reiterated his sentiments towards the coach by saying, “A coach makes his choices for the team, not for one player, he takes me out and puts someone else in. It is only because he is looking for something else, and the players must accept that.”

It would be an absolute shame to even consider selling a player of Pogba’s pedigree. Manchester United need a standout figure to build their future around and he is the ideal man for that job.
