Manchester United are looking to secure the services of Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose this summer. According to recent reports, the Red Devils are ready to step up their interest in the Spurs left-back when the transfer window opens in the summer. It is believed that United boss Jose Mourinho is keen on upgrading both full-back roles over the summer transfer period.
The England international has been plagued by injuries in recent times which has derailed his career in North London. He has fallen out with Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino after expressing his discontent with the club’s transfer activity last summer. Rose’s current contract with Tottenham runs out in the summer of 2021 and some sources are now claiming that Spurs would demand a fee in the region of £53m which Manchester City paid to secure the signature of Kyle Walker from Tottenham last summer.
Rose has spent over a decade at the North London club after joining from Leeds United in the summer of 2007. He has been a great servant for the North Londoners and made 14 appearances for Spurs this season across all competitions but is yet to find the back of the net so far.
Manchester United have a total tally of 74 points after playing 34 league fixtures and find themselves in the second position in the league table. The Red Devils have also managed to progress into the final of the FA Cup after beating Spurs with a 2-1 scoreline last weekend.
The potential addition of Rose will undoubtedly bolster Mourinho’s defensive options ahead of the new season. United have the likes of Luke Shaw, Marcos Rojo and Ashley Young vying for the left-back position in Mourinho’s starting eleven. The acquisition of Rose will definitely improve their squad significantly and add more competition for places within the Red Devils squad.

The English full-back is extremely versatile and primarily operates in the left-back position but can also be deployed on a more advanced role down the left flank which makes him a perfect fit for the Reds of Manchester. At 27, Rose still has his peak years ahead of him which United could look to capitalise on, in the coming years. Only time will tell what lies ahead in the future of Rose and whether he ends up quitting Spurs in favour of a move to Old Trafford in the near future.
