Manchester United are looking to secure the services of Bayer 04 Leverkusen wide man Leon Bailey this summer. According to recent reports, the Reds of Manchester are prepared to make a swoop for the Jamaican international when the transfer window opens in the summer. His future at Leverkusen is currently up in smokes after his adoptive father and agent blasted the club on social media.

Bailey’s father, Craig Butler expressed his views on the Jamaican’s situation at the club with a post on Instagram which stated: “They put him on the bench. They put him on at left-back. They don’t pass to him. The opponent double teams him. They kick him down. “What does he do? Gets up and put the free kick in the back of the damn net.”
It is believed that the Red Devils have sent scouts to catch the Bundesliga starlet in action and could make a move for Bailey at the end of the current campaign. The 20-year-old has enjoyed a fabulous campaign at the BayArena so far and his impressive performances in the German top-flight has not gone unnoticed. His displays have caught the eyes of United chiefs, who are keeping tabs on his development in Germany.
Bailey has made 30 appearances for Bayer 04 Leverkusen this season, scoring 12 goals and providing 6 assists in all competitions. The Jamaican youngster is young, talented and has a lot of potential which is exactly what Jose Mourinho’s side are looking for in the off-season. However, the Bayer 04 Leverkusen winger is yet to prove his worth outside Germany so it might be a bit of a risk for Manchester United to bring him to Old Trafford this summer.
Jose Mourinho’s side are currently occupying the 2nd spot in the league table with a tally of 74 points in 34 matches. They are in an ideal position to finish as the runners-up of the league at the end of the campaign. However, the Red Devils’ only chance of securing a silverware this season rests on their performance in the FA Cup semi-final clash against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
The addition of Bailey will undoubtedly bolster Mourinho’ attacking options in the future as they look to compete for some league titles in the coming years. The Bundesliga star has immense potential and can be nurtured into a future star at Old Trafford if given the opportunity to showcase his talents in the top tier of English football. At 20, the Jamaican wonder-kid has enough time to develop and adapt his game to the physicality and high intensity of the Premier League.
