Anthony Martial is reportedly unhappy with Manchester United and wants out of the club after this season. Sources close to the player also claim that the Frenchman wants to stay at Old Trafford despite feeling frustrated for the lack of game time. It is Jose Mourinho who wants to move the attacker next summer to make way for more reinforcements.
You choose what to believe but there certainly is some unsettlement issues ever since Alexis Sanchez made his way to Manchester. Martial’s gametime has been reduced to that of a sporadic option, even lesser than he was accustomed with just Marcus Rashford as his competitor.
He last appeared in the 2-0 FA Cup Quarter Final win over Brighton & Hove Albion back in March and has been a substitute in almost half of his 40 appearances, scoring 11 and assisting 10 this season.
Mourinho’s system and Romelu Lukaku’s arrival does not quite fit Martial fit into the United system. He is capable of playing in the wings but is always the better choice as a centre-forward.
He scored 4 times in 8 games he played in the number nine role including twice against Everton and once against CSKA Moscow in the UEFA Champions League group stages.
Martial arrived at Old Trafford under Louis Van Gaal and had a remarkable debut season. But the current scenario is only harping his development into the promise he showed in his early years with AS Monaco and under the Dutch manager.
Clearly, Sanchez’s ludicrous three-year deal will not allow Martial to carve out a starting spot anytime soon and Mourinho is already looking into more wingers including Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale.
At 22, Martial still can fulfil all of the early promises but he will have to make the hard choice sooner of later. Juventus could prove to be the perfect fit, including Atletico Madrid. The former will lose Douglas Costa after this season and a spot will open up next to Paulo Dybala and Gonzalo Higuain.
Atletico have already disposed of Nicolas Gaitan and Yannick Carrasco in the January transfer window and are pretty close to losing Antoine Griezmann as well.
Paris Saint-Germain, on the other hand, already have Edinson Cavani, Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Angel Di Maria in the squad along with Julian Draxler as backup. If anything Martial might face the same fate with the Ligue 1 outfit.

Refusing the new 5-year contract seems to be the right move for the time being and the 22-year-old should start considering a future either outside of the Premier League or outside of Old Trafford.
