Plans for the next season are already being laid out for the Premier League winners and Kylian Mbappe is high on the manager’s wishlist. Latest reports claim that Manchester City have a more than favourable odds of landing the French prodigy. The Financial Fair Play investigation with Paris Saint-Germain could end up terminating the permanent of Mbappe from AS Monaco allowing the Citizens to make a swoop.
Mbappe is only playing for the Ligue 1 giants because of the agreement PSG have in place with his parent club, AS Monaco. It was almost inevitable that officials would be looking under their hood after the record-breaking magnanimous transfer move they made for Neymar ahead of the 2017/18 season.
Pep Guardiola wants to bolster the City squad further and the Mbappe arrival seems more than likely at the moment. If you have witnessed the PSG season with both Mbappe and Neymar in the same team, it will give you a better sense of how this transfer could take place.
Yes the Frenchman has put up remarkable stat-line of 21 goals and 17 assists in his debut season despite having two scoring beasts in Edinson Cavani and Neymar, but it is not the best of what he can produce. Plenty of occasions, Mbappe has been delegated to a third option in the PSG attack behind Neymar and Cavani. Mostly to the Brazilian’s inordinate ability to dominate possession and the best scoring chances falling to Cavani.
The latter cannot be blamed for doing his job but the tension between the teenager and the former-Barcelona winger has been close to being more and more evident. Even reports came out earlier in the season stating Neymar’s wishes to be the only star player in the PSG squad and for the club to do away with his final-third partner.
The current season alone marks the true nature of the long-term rift that can follow in the Parc des Princes. Mbappe have gotten into good scoring positions inside the box but was denied the opportunity to score by his teammate. The first leg against Real Madrid was the best example along with the 0-1 win over Toulouse in early February.

City have just been crowned the champions and they could get Mbappe to put them over the top of all local rivals. Maybe a following season of replicating or further glory can be hedged upon once the Frenchman starts to feature in the attacking lineup, ahead of Raheem Sterling.
