Manchester City are looking to secure the services of Bayer 04 Leverkusen speedster Leon Bailey this summer. According to recent reports, the Blues of Manchester are planning to make a swoop for the Jamaican international when the transfer window opens in the summer.
It is believed that the Citizens are currently weighing up their options and could make a move for Bailey at the end of the current campaign. The 20-year-old has enjoyed a sensational campaign for Leverkusen so far and his dazzling displays in the Bundesliga has not gone unnoticed. His performances have caught the eyes of City chiefs, who are keeping tabs on his development in Germany.
Bailey has made 28 appearances for Bayer 04 Leverkusen this season, scoring 11 goals and providing 6 assists in all competitions. He is young, talented and has a lot of potential which is exactly what the Premier League champions-elect are looking for in the off-season. However, the Jamaican youngster is yet to prove his worth outside the German top-flight so it might be a gamble for City to bring him to the Etihad Stadium this summer.
The Citizens are currently leading the top tier of English football by 13 points and are set to win another Premier League title in the coming weeks. Guardiola’s men have already bagged the Carabao Cup earlier this year but their disappointing showing in the FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League this term will be a cause for concern. City are in need to bring in some reinforcements this summer so that they can maintain their dominance in both domestic and European football.
The addition of Bailey will undoubtedly bolster Guardiola’s attacking options ahead of the new campaign. Manchester City have the likes of Leroy Sane, Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva and David Silva vying for a place in their first-team. The potential acquisition of Bailey will definitely add more competition for places in the City squad.

The Jamaican starlet is highly versatile and can operate in a number of different positions across the pitch. He primarily operates on the left side of the midfield but can play on either flank which makes him a perfect fit for Guardiola’s style of play at the Etihad Stadium. It remains to be seen what lies ahead in the future of Bailey and whether he ends up making a switch to the Premier League in the near future.
