Standing ovation for being the best team on the English soil, yes that’s how Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City welcomed Swansea City to the Etihad. Swansea have a relegation battle going on but there was no doubt today as to who will win as Manchester City cruised to a magnificent victory and produced a five-star performance. Goals from David Silva, Raheem Sterling, Kevin De Bruyne, Bernando Silva and Gabriel Jesus ensured that Swansea went through hell.
Here’s how the new champions are rated after the win.
Ederson – 6/10
Alert to the effort of Mawson but he was hardly bothered otherwise.
Danilo – 7/10
He went forward well enough and added another dimension to City. He might experience a good game time now without any worries since the title is confirmed.
Vincent Kompany – 7.5/10
The attack of the Welsh stood no chance in front of his sheer strength and alertness. His passing was supreme too.
Aymeric Laporte – 7/10
Had a comfortable game but he should polish the rust further away from his game.
Fabian Delph – 7.5/10
Excellent today and his performance just shows as to how well he has redeemed himself and established himself at the new position. He set up Sterling’s goal well too.
Kevin De Bruyne – 8.5/10
Utter class and he got a goal as well. Does he still stand well against Salah for the top award? One might as well nod after seeing him today.
Ilkay Gundogan – 8/10
Controlled the game well and added his magic whenever he could.
David Silva – 8.5/10
Flamboyant, graceful and performed like a magician. What a beautiful player David Silva is! He got the first goal and played a part in the second and was a class apart for the entire game.
Bernando Silva – 9/10
Man of the match. That’s pretty much all you need to know about his level today.
Gabriel Jesus – 7.5/10
Good work rate but missed a penalty.
Raheem Sterling – 8.5/10
Got his goal and put in a brilliant shift today. Won the penalty as well.
