Manchester City are interested in securing the services of Altinordu goalkeeper Berke Ozer this summer. According to recent reports, the Citizens are keen to make a swoop for the 17-year-old Turkish starlet, who has often been compared to AC Milan’s Gianluigi Donnarumma, at the end of the season. However, they might face stiff competition from other European clubs with the likes of Barcelona and Chelsea also keeping tabs on the Turkish youngster’s progress during the course of this campaign.
Some sources are also claiming that Antonio Conte’s side are stepping up their pursuit of the player which means that the Citizens will need to move in quickly if they are to beat their Premier League rivals on the hunt for Ozer’s signature. The 17-year-old is currently playing for Altinordu, who ply their trade in the second tier of Turkish football. It is believed that the Turkish side are bracing themselves for several offers for their prized asset when the transfer window opens in the summer and will allow Ozer to choose his next club.
The Turkish Superlig teenage wonderkid has featured in 6 matches for Altinordu this season, shipping in 12 goals while keeping one shutout across all competitions.
City are currently cruising in the Premier League and could wrap up the Premier League title by this weekend when they face off against their bitter rivals Manchester United. However, they have two crucial UEFA Champions League matches versus Liverpool on either side of their league encounter with United which makes it a season-defining week for them.
Pep Guardiola’s side are still in with a good chance of securing a treble this season after they already won the Carabao Cup, a few weeks ago. The Spaniard has built a reputation of showing faith on talented young players as evidenced by the recent emergence of Gabriel Jesus, Leroy Sane, Raheem Sterling among many others during his career in football management. The addition of Ozer will undoubtedly bolster his goalkeeping options in the future but for now, the youngster needs time to grow and develop his game to help him in his quest to become a future star in world football.
